Job Description                                                                                                     By: Robert Sult  AOS

SLOT TECH
JOB STANDARD & OPERATING PROCEDURES

The following may or may not be the way some Casino’s has set up the Slot Repair Shop,
From my point of view – this is the way it should be.

BASIC FUNCTION AND OBJECTIVE
Since the Customer Service has (Or Should) have the Highest Priority, there should be a Minimum of 1 Slot Tech assigned to the Casino Slot Floor at all times. (24 Hours a day / 7 Days a Week).

** 1st Priority – Customer Service
** 2nd Priority – Down or Out of order Games
** 3rd Priority – Service Log & Pass on log
** 4th Priority – Orders from Slot Tech Manager – PM’S – Shop Clean up

The Slot Tech or Techs that are assigned to the Casino Floor Should

A) Handle all service calls in a timely manner
B) Fix / repair the games that are written up on the service log.
C) Fix / repair the games that are written up on the Slot Pass on Log

Providing the Slot Tech assigned to the Casino Floor has the 1st & 2nd Priority done & maintained. They should patrol all Slot Areas, doing Basic preventive Maintenance.

Cleaning Glass
Cleaning DVB
Cleaning Player tracking boxes
Changing bulbs in games both (General display and the game switches)
Fix loose chairs

Any other maintenance that can be done where if called for a service call; the tech can close the game up Quickly and proceed to the service call.

Form time to time, there may be many service calls in a short period of time. And some service calls may be written up on the service log, because the Tech was busy with prier service call. To better serve the customer the decision was made to pay the customer so they can move the some other games etc.

The service log calls should be 2nd priority to customer’s service.

Other examples of calls for the service log would be some less important calls, (Every Call is important – but does have different priority).

Like player tracking boxes, Customer can be manually rated.

The Famous Constant hopper Jams. The Word CONSTANT – should say that the machines need to be placed out of order so the Hopper can the rebuilt.

NOTE: It would be nice if the Shop were able to have a min. of 1 hopper for each type of game on the casino floor. Where if you had a bad Hopper that needed to be rebuilt it could have been swapped out – sure would go a long way to improve customer service.

More examples of Service calls that can be written up on the Service Log –

1.         Dividers between machines missing or loose

2.         Service light out

3.         Coin lights out

4.         No winner paid light

5.         No " SDS " display

6.         Insert/Deposit coin light out

Slot Techs that are assigned to the slot floor, can also help with the machine moves – conversions – Game Installs – or any other projects, as long as they are not left on the project alone, because they must respond to service calls.

Slot Techs that are assigned to the slot floor, can also follow up on the different reports from the player tracking system – accounting, reports like the code R – Looser list – No Comm. – plus many others. Or do any other Job or Jobs that are required, as long as they know that the Customer Service is 1st Priority.

Slot Techs should increase customer usage of slot machines by ensuring that all machines are working properly

NOTE:  To help keep all slot techs up to date – with the different machines and all the different test futures of the various games, and the different problems on the casino floor. The Slot tech should rotate who works the casino floor – if not on a daily basis at less on a weekly basis.

NO TECH should be permanently assigned – to the casino floor or the slot moves etc. All slot techs should be able to do any job related to the Slot machines.

NOTE: Slot Techs that are assigned to the Machine Moves, Conversions, Game Installation Etc, all know that there are times that the projects get to a point that you must wait – be it for a carpenter – Electrician – Laborer – and or the outside vender.

What every the reason – they must take this time to help the techs that are assigned to the casino floor. First help with any pending service calls as that is the 1st Priority, and then check the Service log and repair any machine listed.

Also, on the days that no moves or any other projects is planed, that would be a good time to get many of the (Complete PM’s done on the games)

NAME of the Game is (TEAM WORK) if you don’t have teamwork you do not have good customer service, and other areas will suffer also.

NOTE: To improve on the Installation – machine moves Etc. If the Techs had a cart
And could stock it with most everything that they may need for the job. And take the cart to the area that they are working in (That alone would speed up the Job), as there would not be so many trips back and forth to the shop. (Just a thought)
